An extreme weather event in the mid 1900's cut a deep channel through the sandy hills surrounding Lake Traverse.  Over the past 50 years, the channel has deepened, and the current has carried sediment into Lake Traverse - creating a penninsula at the outlet.

In response to landowner requests, Bois de Sioux Watershed Board Managers have made this project a top priority - but, we know that this will be an expensive project.  Last year, the Lake Traverse Water Quality Improvement Project was a finalist for an MPCA/EPA 319 grant; however the project was not selected to receive the 16-year, million-dollar.

This year, staff will submit the project for Clean Water Competitve grant through the State of Minnesota.
